yahoo sucks!

Sorrie for the 3 hours of downtime today. We got a butt load of traffic and yahoo bolted out on us. They stopped letting us use their DNS servers coz we had too much load. This is the stuff the attractive voice (when you sign up) wont tell you.

Why don't you host your own DNS?

We're getting our hosting company to do it for us. If we host our own DNS, we will have another technical headache to deal with (along with the downtime needed to migrate)

Well, I wouldn't exactly call hosting your own DNS a headache. You run Fedora already, so setting up bind wouldn't be too much of a hassle -- yum has packages.

In regards to downtime, make your new nameserver a slave and add it to your domain's list of nameservers. Once the change fully propagates, change your nameserver into the primary and drop the Yahoo nameservers (or use them as secondary).
