Pakistani blood - no good
I went to donate blood at the American Red Cross camp. It was my first time. I was shitting myself. They asked me a bunch of questions, from have you paid for sex in the past 12 months to have you had unprotected anal sex.
Anyways she asked me which counties I have been to in the past 3 years. So i told her the Wales, Germany, France, Netherlands, Singapore and ofcourse Pakistan (thats where home is). When she heard Pakistan, her head turned up and she said, oh oh.
I was turned away. Apparently being in Pakistan even for a week in the past 12 months equates to Malaria. Heck i've lived there all my life! never had malaria nor has any one in my family. I felt like shit walking away while every one stared at the brown boy not being able to donate.

ouch.
I was in the Marine Corps, and basically went around the world twice to many countries, one of which was Pakistan. I can't give blood for the rest of my life...never had any diseases, just the places I've been.
Pakistanis give blood to other Pakistanis and we dont see any outbreak of Malaria and any of that nonsense. Its just a case of being overly protective 'oh but you're from a third world country'.
they did not let black people donate to whites and many orgonizations do not let homosexuals donate. Can you believe that? I understand their concern but I think it mis great you tried. I cannot donate because I am below weight regulations but admire anyone who tries.
